In an effort to raise awareness to the jargon that is being used in Social Business, I offer you Social Business Buzzword Bingo. If you’re talking or listening to a Social Media Expert, Thought Leader, ninja, Guru etc. Listen to what they say. Are they talking clearly and articulating the value of social business or are they talking Jargon?

In the past, I’ve written posts on: Improving collaboration, breaking down silos, and innovating better. What does that all mean?Breaking down silos, what does that mean? and What does “Innovate better” really mean? in an effort to cut through some of the jargon. Today, I want to step it up a notch and crowdsource (buzzword) “ask people to contribute” in putting together the comprehensive list of Social Business Buzzwords.

    Transparency or Openness
    COMMUNITY (how could you miss that?)
    Metrics or Analytics

    Recriprocity – maybe

    You don’t need:
    Klout, Kred and Influence. Just Influence by itself should be enough
    360 Review – not really
    Social Business – isn’t it redundant to put into a “Social Business Bingo”

    1. Good points. Klout, Kred, 360 Review all removed. (don’t want to name vendors anyway) As far as Social Business being on the list, The point I was trying to make is that since there is not aligned definition of what social business is, it’s jargon and hence should be included. Thanks for playing!

  2. It is not only about words… Acronyms and Jargon. PPC, CAC, etc. TLAs are the bane of the tech world and I see so many of them starting to creep into social business. As my wife says “add more vowels and make them count – I don’t like acronyms!”

    1. I debated about ROI. Lots of folks want to avoid that discussion at all costs, so I figured it would be a tough box to fill.
